There are no estimates currently provided by proponents of the Dover Greenway.
- Here is a link to published statistics for the Milford Upper Charles Trail. There were 2,500 people who used the trail on a typical Saturday in Spring. Also, read our post on usage of the Milford Upper Charles Trail.
- Another trail, the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail which runs through several communities including Concord and Sudbury saw 1,153 people on a typical Summer day.
- Another resource documents usage of several rail trails showing over 100 users per hour.
Our concern is that statistics from other rail trails may help to inform potential and expected usage of the proposed Dover Greenway. If usage of a rail trail in our community is on the same order of magnitude with likely most of the users being from out-of-town, the rail trail will further strain limited existing resources from policing to maintenance to parking and result in increased cost to the town and increased inconvenience to the citizens of Dover.
